STEPS TO RECEIVING CHRIST

Becoming a child of God is not a hard process. Satan would have you believe that it is hard, that you can’t become a Christian because of your pasted. He will try and tell you that you don’t need Christ; you are a good enough person and God will accept you as you are. Let me show you a few things here in the word and answer question like “How am I a Sinner?”, “How do I receive Eternal Life?” , “What do I say?”, “What happens after I have made this commitment?”

HOW AM I A SINNER?
Romans 3:23
“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

These scriptures show that everyone has sinned. There is no one who is without sin. So since we all have sinned, that means death is what we will have because the wages of sin is death. The price of your sin is death. You could say that you haven’t done anything really wrong so God would take that into consideration. You were a good person. The Bible says in John 10:9 “I am the door; if any man enter in, he shall be saved,” So, you have to receive Christ as your Savior to be able to enter heaven. It doesn’t matter if you have been a good person, if you have not received Christ you cannot go to heaven. But, God has a tremendous gift for you that is eternal life.

HOW DO I RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE?
First you have to realize that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. Once you realize this, then you can confess your sins to Jesus. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
As you confess your sins and believe that Christ has died for you as it states in Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God will forgive all your sins and apply His blood to your life. You will be clean before the Lord. In II Corinthians 5:17 it states: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” You become a new creature in Him. You pasted is wiped away by the blood. You sins are no longer held against you because they have been forgiven.

WHAT DO I SAY?
Sometimes this is the hardest thing for new believers to do is pray because they have never done this before. Here is a simple prayer you can pray that will help you. Say;
“Father, I know I am a sinner. I know I have committed sins against you. Please forgive me for my past. Apply the blood of Christ to my life and make me a new creature in you. I accept you as my personal Savior because I believe you have died on the cross for me. Thank you Father for sending your Son for me, and for giving me eternal life which is promised in your word.” Amen.

It is that easy. Now, you have to make a change in your life. Know you are not alone. If you have made this commitment, please email me or call the church and let us help you.

The Bible says in Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” It is hard to make it on your own, so come to church get to know other Christians that can help you in your daily walk. It is important to know you are not alone.
